I'll start with hello! We moved to Brookfield a couple of months ago, as you know because the ceiling collapsed, but we have been finally settling in, and just got internet yesterday! Things are great. Jeff is still at Lime Green and I am still at Brookfield Zoo. We are both loving our jobs. My recent news is I officially received my dolphin whistle on Nov. 1st. I am a marine mammal trainer! After much, much hard work, I am there. I work about 7 days a week, numerous hours here and there, but it has paid off. I am here, and I love it! My first dolphin I am learning is Lucky! He's a hugger and a kisser! As I was told, "So you know, he likes to invade personal space. He's a cuddler". He picked the perfect trainer then- me! He was saved from a fisherman's net when he was younger, and has some bites from a shark, so miracously he is named Lucky after his survival of those two events!
We made our first long term purchase the other day, and we are waiting for it, wth great joy! A COUCH!!! It will still be a few more weeks, but then we will actually have a living room!! We have a lot more space in our living room in our new place, so it should look really nice. It's like a chocolate brown one, "maghony" is the color, and we think we are going to piant the walls blue! Yay!
Well, a little update is needed! I started at the zoo a couple of weeks ago as a Seasonal Keeper in hte marine mammal department. It is a step below the title of "Full Time Keeper", which is what I want to be at the Zoo. I wouldn't say I love the job yet, but I wouldn't say I hate it either. It's lots of cleaning and dealing with the public, which I knew and understood when I took the job, it just can get tiring. But animal time will come, so I am just hanging in there. I am suffering the consequences of EXTREMLY dry skin on my hands...so if anybody has any solutions, let me know...
Unfortunately, since my last update, I lost my very close friend to cancer. He was such a good person, and did not deserve to go away. At the funeral they had a picture of the two of us in kindergarten, it was so cute. But I have to think that my dad is taking good care of him, and that he is out of pain. To me, I can't ask for anything better.
We have had some ups and some downs lately, but overall life is pretty good. Jeff gets to experience the cicadas here. They overtake streets and sidewalks here. I mean- they are ALL OVER, you can't get away from them, and in the summer they are so loud, you have to have your windows shut, because there humming is outrageous!
Our hamster is doing well. We are trying to get a good picture of him to put up here.
Please pray for one of my best friends and his family. Things are not looking good for him and the cancer has taken over. Please pray as much as you can. He's a light in this world that we need. Thank you.
"When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need."
Prayers for all the VT students and teachers and their families. It just seems unberable and so unfair. I don't have much to say, even though my life has been unbearably busy. But I do want to tell you a little story that makes me laugh.
So I went to a wedding shower the other day, and I was cleaning up people's plates of food. I was wearing these black pants that were WAY too long for me. I had on heels as well, small ones, but heels just the same. When you never wear heels you have no idea how to walk in them. Well, they have slick wood floors at this house, (you can see where this story is going), and I was walking on them enjoying the heel clicky sounds that I was making, thinking I somewhat have this whole stepping thing down. What was I thinking, may I add in here. One step more, and I stepped on these super long pants with these clicky heels, and my leg went right out from under me. Now, to make matters worse I didn't just fall. If I had fallen, it might have been a little less funny. But because I saved myself in the most ungraceful mannner possible, I did this little dance, caught myself with a little hop, and then put my arms out in a dismount, looking more like an idiot, becasue I tried to save myself the smaller embarassment of just falling. Therefore, I then created such a scene that everyone stopped eating, and chose to laugh at me. Of course my typical, "Don't worry I always do this kind of thing" came out of me, and my youth leader all through high school was there and chimed in with, "Oh yeah she used to come every day to youth group with a new story of her wiping out doing something silly".....awesome....I will live to tell many more of these glamorous stories, that everybody particularly remembers about me!
In other news, still working on the Brookfield Zoo stuff...much love to you all!
